Ask a friend to call your former supervisor pretending they are checking references. If you confirm try to report to RH or write a email do CEO or VP explaining your situation
Isn’t it illegal to do that. I thought I heard if a negative reference was given and you didn’t get the job because of it you could sue them.
I was under the impression that most places are now only allowed to verify employment, not comment on any previous employees history, or work performance.
It’s possible that the WFH jobs are just HIGHLY competitive. Maybe work with a resume company that can help you tweak your resume to include trigger words they look for? When they get 100’s of applicants I think they screen electronically first for certain words.
Do a phone call yourself to the HR department. Simply state you are with a certain employer, and you want to verify a person's employment, "you." Ask."Would you recommend this employee as a good candidate to hire?" Remain calm, and you will have your answer. Remain vague when asking. Employers can not retaliate against a former employee regardless if you left on bad terms. The only thing they can say is yes, they worked here for this time frame." It's against the law for a former employer to ruin your reputation or retaliation against how they feel about you. If they do and you find out you can sue them. Now, if you broke any laws that lead to a felony, that's different.
Thank you, I will do this. I didn't leave on good terms but also didn't break any laws, so I should be all good lol...
