If you're really sick, take a sick day and turn off your laptop and phone. That's what I do.
If you're sort of sick, make the decision if you're WFH the whole day, or maybe only available half day or perhaps will check in periodically throughout the day but only respond to high importance emails and texts.
Only you can decide what makes sense based on how you feel.
But of course be mindful of any deliverables and don't be that person that screws the team over if you're not that sick. If you really are that sick, maybe try for a 30 min status call and log off for the day.
P1 the idea is that the status would be to debrief the team on urgent things that you were going to cover that day and that they could pitch in to help with. If there is nothing urgent or nothing they can help with, then no meeting is needed. Or if you're too sick, then don't offer that up.
But unless I'm bedridden, I prefer a call so that I can rest easy knowing that I haven't left my team hanging and knowing that things aren't piling up, as I know I won't be back up to speed the next few days. Sometimes this is easily covered in an email.
A sick day is a sick day, not a work day. If you’re sick I want you recovering so you’re back to 100% sooner, not working and elongating the sickness.

If I use an actual sick day I am unavailable for the day unless there is some emergency. If I just tell the team I’m working from home to rest, then I make myself available when necessary.
