Hi all! I’m a recent transplant to the USA, foreign qualified in New Zealand. Worked on global issues with counterparts across the world. Have experience in startups, international contracting, litigation and foreign policy. Finding it hard for someone to take my experience seriously. Ideally would like to work in-house as I have experience. I’ve interviewed with a few tech companies with global offices but nothing has progressed. Am now reluctantly sitting the bar. Any advice?

What percent of your monthly income shoule go to rent payments?
I’ve been living with a roommate so rent has been pretty reasonable, however roommate is now getting married and I need to find a new apartment. My monthly income is about $3,500 per month. Looking at apartments around my area for a 1 bedroom woth washer and dryer in unit is about $1,900 per month which is half my monthly income; Is this normal? Is renting suppose to be half my monthly income?
Any help on this would be very helpful.
