Is there any benefit for analysts/consultants who are on the bench to help with BD work? Does it make a difference in terms of networking/getting your name out - or is it really just doing

It makes a difference. It is a great way to learn and more importantly network. I staff most, if not all, of my projects with colleagues who have pitched in on BD or plus ones.

Depends on who you are doing it for

You may get first dibs on roles if the project sells.

Can always learn something new or support someone new that might have your back later on...also keeps you from getting the bench blues (a real thing in my experience)

If you do a good job, yes it makes a difference. We always look to staff people we know and can trust over unknowns. And we definitely talk to our colleagues and make recommendations too. But key is doing a good job. If you half-ass it, you’ll have the opposite result.

I agree with both SMs. Do well, learn and hey staffed and known ad hard working and intelligent. Don't try, and everyone knows. There is no downside, everyone know deliverables (if already staffed) or a chargeable role superceded BD work. Just communicate.

Great way to highlight your quality of output to new managers. Every time I’ve found myself between cases I’ve done at least 1-2 pieces of BD work, doubled the number of managers who’ve worked with me, and now I’ve got a waitlist of people who want me one their case. Also as others have said, nothing better for honing your pick up than having to learn an industry and produce quality output in a week.

Long Post : I have a divorced female friend that I have known for over 15 years and consider as a sister. For the past couple weeks because I was on the bench and bored we talked about an hour+ often, especially when I am walking and need company. My wife went through my T mobile call history and mad because I'm talking to her too often and too long. She knows the friend as well and we all hangout on multiple occasions. Am I doing something wrong here? Or my wife is just insecure?

I am so grateful to have a job right now but I am really struggling. I’ve been at D for a little under a year and have been really unhappy with my experience. In particular, my current project and my direct supervisor make me feel unbelievably incompetent and under appreciated. Given COVID, there is little flexibility to roll off. I’ve tried to stick it through but I’m at a breaking point. Any suggestions on how to make the best of it? Or next steps?

Honestly want to know if I am being unreasonable. My husband and I have worked f rom home since the start of the pandemic. Two kids 100% remote until two weeks ago when school started back up. I had to stop my work at 12:30pm every week day to make lunch for the kids and also made some for my husband to took it to his office nook. I typically don’t have time to stop and eat myself since I’m down at minimum those 30 minutes and I work in a bedroom so the smell of food in there is not desired…
