Is there anybody who can share the requirements needed to take CFE exam, the usual timeline to finish it and how much is the estimated cost of the exam and materials? Thanks in advance 🙂

Don’t do that exam. It will not pay off in longer term. The exam is very easy and you can take from home. When you buy their study packages (I paid $1,000 back in 2015). The questions in exam are pretty same which are in practice questions. Go go CPA it will be better for your long term career

The exam format changed significantly a couple of years ago, resulting in a significantly tougher exam.

A CPA is definitely more marketable but if you’re looking for a certification to pad your resume, you could do worse. It’s gotten my foot in two doors already. I paid the money for the study package and, as Citi1 said, it’s the same questions as the test - I think that’s more of a boon than a drawback.

Feel free to DM with additional questions. A CFE isn’t useless but a CPA *is* more useful.

I have been invited to move up to the junior partner level in my mid-sized insurance defense/medical malpractice defense firm, but the terms essentially make me an independent contractor. What does your firm's junior partner track look like? I have been offered 50% of all income brought in, but I have to deal with my own insurance, pay all my own benefits, and handle my own insurance. Is this normal?

I’ve been a paralegal for about 30 years in private law firmS. As I get older, I feel like it’s time for a semi-career change. Either an office manager position or perhaps a corporate position where I can travel a little since my kids are grown and I’m an empty-nester. Has anyone made this type of transition? Advise welcome. Would love some advice / thoughts. I went straight from law school to a corporate legal department in house for an asset manager. They like “home grown” talent and I “be worked hard and risen relatively quickly (AGC in 9 years). I work hard and get a lot of complicated deals done (structured products and private funds). I can’t shake certain people (in compliance department mainly) thinking I don’t have enough experience to do what I do because I didn’t come from a law firm. Any advice?

Hello all - currently evaluating an offer for IT strategy senior consultant out of London. Would like to hear about culture and any exit opps that have come across.

Dear legal recruiters who used to work as attorneys: are you glad you made the switch? I think recruiting could be fun but I know how much I ignore recruiter emails daily so it makes me think it’s touch to place people and make a consistent income. Thoughts?

1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
