Is there some sort of math you can do to figure out how much a junior partner makes based on PPP? I’m assuming all firms are different. But if the PPP is $1.7mm, what would you expect a junior equity partner to make?

They make around 600K but it really depends

A1 yes, profits rarely follow a normal distribution so PPP only tells you the average without context. You can look up the spread between lowest and highest paid partner to get a little more info, but even then you don’t really know how many partners are at which place in that spread. It seems like most firms are more bottom-heavy with lots of partners making minimum or like 25th percentile and then a group of rainmakers/leaders at the top pulling into crazy money. Hard to know.

For what it’s worth I can tell you about my firm (K&E) as an illustration - PPP is $7.38, minimum shares this past year was around ~$2.5m and maximum was around ~$25m (10:1 spread). If you assumed a similar min/max at a firm with $2m PPP, that would mean a minimum of $677k and max of $6.77m, which lines up with the ballpark the other commentator mentioned.

Junior equity partners have buy ins, and other expenses to cover, not entirely sure PPP is the best metric for a junior partner ? Any junior partners in here?

Junior partner at my v40 said that he makes around $700k.

like

That sounds about right.

The numbers in this thread seem right to me. Junior equity partner, small-ish book, I and similarly situated junior partners are around $600-$700k at a firm with $2mm+ PPP. But it moves up quickly as you build your practice.

like

Junior partner at my firm (one off experience) said he made around $700k. I also know of a senior partner at my firm who makes $20m+ a year. PPP is about $2.3m

1/3 to 1/2 of PPP is very rough math for what junior partners make.

First year partners at my V80 make >$1m.

Hey all - first year associate here… I’ve met my hours requirement for this year (requirement is 1900 and am currently at around 2050 with billable hours - approx. 2160 with non billable admin hours) and I am just tired. Is it okay to just “disappear” during the holidays (thanksgiving week, week of Christmas) and let partners and senior associates know I am not available? At this point I don’t care about making more money - I just want to sleep, read a good trashy book, and cuddle with my dog.
