Is there some type of document I can sign to protect myself and my assets when buying a new property?

Are you talking about protection for buyers when negotiating in real estate?

You may want to consider consulting with an attorney to create a custom legal document tailored specifically to your needs. This document could help safeguard your interests in case of a property purchase dispute or other unforeseen complications.

There is not one specific document that will protect you and your assets when buying a new property. Rather, it is important to have a comprehensive estate plan in place. This will help ensure that your property is transferred to your loved ones in the event of your death.

Hi! I’m moving to LA from Chicago, base 90k - no debt. I live in a 1BD rn and have been browsing the market in LA to get an idea of rent. I’m mainly looking west of DTLA (ktown, la brea, pico rob, etc)it’s seeming like a 1BD may be out of reach. I’m not looking to pay more than $1800/mo. Any suggestions on neighborhoods I should consider? I’d like to be near grocery, restaurants, and would need parking. I enjoy being outdoors and would look to go on hikes/runs in my free time if that helps. TIA!

Interested in others opinions.

Early 40s. No debt. Currently have ~50yrs worth of [annual expenses+15%] between savings, investments and 401k (not including future social security). Current savings ~1.5yrs [expenses+15%], 401k ~12yrs [expenses+15%], and investments ~37yrs [expenses+15%]

At what point would early retirement be a serious consideration for you, given no interest in increasing expenses (other than inflation) or any other substantial changes, with satisfaction in life outside work?

Quick tax question: AB have an existing partnership and bring on C. C contributes it’s stock and cash for its equity interest in the partnership. Any distributions on Cs stock go directly to AB and not to C. Would this be a disguised sale? I’m afraid of a substance over form argument and that this transaction would cause AB to incur a tax liability.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

MMED OP here, just sold a bit more than half my positions. I think it’s still got room to go, but personal circumstances say i should reduce some of my more volatile holdings (just crossed threshhold i wanted for downpyment on a new condo).

I’d suggest keeping some, but to tread w some caution. Official tally on this sale is 880% gain

Urgent since I have to make a decision by today. I have two offers: one is general real estate (a variety of work) and the other is focused on real estate finance. I’m a junior associate and I’ve been leaning toward the latter since the team seemed to be more flexible. But the first team seems to be more enthusiastic about me joining (multiple associates and partners called me to congratulate me). I’m very torn. Which one should I go to?

I’m a lawyer based in Europe. I’m lateraling to a firm in a new jurisdiction on Monday and negotiated a decent pay increase a few months ago (new jurisdiction has significantly higher income taxes so negotiated based on a comparable net pay). My old firm has just announced it is increasing salaries by around 15% which will almost negate what I negotiated at new firm. New firm doesn’t review salaries till September. What are my options here so that I’m not out of pocket?

Is there a corporate way to bring up to senior leaders that an IC is causing issues across multiple teams because they are demanding and also doesn’t collaborate well? The IC gives vague “direction” then says they are too busy to clarify. They also refuse to use our project management/ collaboration tools.

As realtors, our worst and best friend are the contractors, being friends with the contractor that remodelled a home you are going to sell is a plus because you can know for sure what kind of improvements were made to the house and why; and what kind of things are pending to be improved, that way you can provide real information to the client. You know what they say: a happy client always comes back to you.
