It may actually be an ok time, everything has been turned upside down so we’re learning the new norm, plus coming out of this in the next few months may provide some interesting opportunities, on the near term you’ll miss out on in person interaction but you may get a bit more slack in terms of getting up to speed

Ah. That makes sense.

Me - left Audit world for industry about a month ago! Onboarding has been different with WFH. I’ve gone to office like 4 times since starting. Critical for me was week 1 - my boss had little expectations and set up 30 minutes calls with all the key stakeholders I would be working with. That’s made a big difference as I now have a small personal connection with each and I have the voice behind the emails. I was a tad worried about the whole economy, new kid on block gets laid off first some I asked lots of questions and felt like I got honest answers. Happy I made the move and would do it again.....

I think it is firm specific. Before you accept an offer, have an honest conversation about the new firm’s revenues and pipeline. Some industries and companies are doing fine through this.

This is great advice. We are literally in unprecedented times. I’ve have a couple of interviews and the employers have been very straight forward with their performance and how the virus will impact them. Everyone is thinking the same question about what the future will hold, so I have found employers have been very straight forward with the answers.

I started a new job but didn’t have much choice about it. Mba class of 2020. I’m nervous about developing my internal network during WFH.

I started a new job 3 weeks ago. My old job had started layoffs and my new job hasn’t mentioned them yet and my team is very short staffed at the moment so I’m pretty sure I have more job security at my new job

I get too distracted by reddit, youtube and google to make WFH a viable solution. I’m also struggling to focus on work when I see client tasks as inconsequential in the face of COVID. What do?

Hey everyone, so my sister and her boyfriend have both gained about 60-70 pounds since COVID started. I’m getting very concerned for them and I’ve seen firsthand how they’re developed awful eating and drinking habits and they hardly ever exercise. I’m very concerned for them, but I have no idea how to talk about it with them and not make them angry or hurt. Any advice on how to have this difficult conversation?

How do you guys deal with frequent brain fog? Ive always had it a bit on and off but lately I've felt almost lost in some work meetings because I can't retain anything. I don't smoke weed, I rarely take low dose of anxiety medicine, drink socially and I'm pretty healthy on most fronts but I did have COVID almost a year ago. What else could cause this?

Interesting study.. After vaccination was readily available - more COVID hospitalizations fit the “mild or asymptomatic” (52% from the dataset) compared to 64% before vaccinations were readily available. Median age 71 years old. This study suggests that A. Vaccination has brought down severity and B. People are going to the hospital/ICU when they don’t need to

Currently working at Accenture as a C (promoted Dec ‘19), but I know I ultimately want to make the jump over to Deloitte. I am on track to be promoted to M in the 2021 promo cycle and I know Deloitte would likely knock me down one level either way. Due to COVID-19, it seems like it doesn’t make sense to jump ship for at least another year while things get back to normal. Any thoughts on if it’s better to wait it out and leave after making M (but how long after?) or try to leave earlier? TIA

I feel terrible for seniors/elderly trying to get Covid vaccine appts online. I am splitting my time living between Florida and Illinois and signing up for the vaccine in either state is a nightmare for people who are not very computer savvy. I have been helping seniors who had problems figuring it out. If you have the time, reach out and help others. I have seen immense relief and a weight lifted when people get an appointment. Plus, helping others makes you feel good! 💪

Just need to vent: my friend refuses to bring up the topic of covid and how it will likely effect her wedding. She’s just moving forward like we aren’t in a pandemic and it’s becoming exhausting trying to be supportive and excited for her when it feels like she’s living in a fantasy world. She just had us purchase bridesmaids dresses and I can’t help but feel like it was a complete waste of a few hundred dollars. I feel bad for having these thoughts but I’m over it.

I’m being promoted to Manager this November but recent got offer from a fintech. In money term the manager base pay is 5k greater than the new role but i’m negotiating to match the offer with my Manager salary. Should I wait until promoted or move asap? I dont want to continue working in external audit so trying to pivot to data analyst role/IA in the fintech before moving to full DA/DS position… but thinking the Manager promotion would help negotiate salary in the future.

Hey could use some honest opinions on this because I’m still in shock. I was preparing to give in my resignation + 2 weeks from EY on Monday to jump ship to Deloitte. I accepted the offer from Deloitte on Friday, and I just got hit with a bomb today that my brother has cancer and we have no idea what stage it’s at. Should I just rescind my acceptance from Deloitte? I don’t know how it would be taken if I start at a new firm and immediately need substantial flexibility and time off.
