It is true. Colorado did it last year too.

Colorado already does this. A HCOL area doing this would be a good datapoint for large companies that hire in different areas.

Another reason to like it-on boards like this (and esp Blind) it's easy to get FOMO from all the 25 year olds who claim to be making $500,000. So it helps people understand if they are underpaid as well as if they are fairly paid.

Yup true, but when Colorado did it lots of companies stopped offering the role in Colorado - like they’d say “it’s remote, but not accepting applicants in Colorado”…it’s great that NYC is doing it too because lots of companies wont eliminate NYC applicants, but I’m sure some will. Companies will probably find some loophole or caveat the salary by saying it’s specific to NYC as a HCOL city.

like

If it's a remote job then eliminating NYC applicants is a no brainer. COL isn't worth it.

you will see job posting online includes a disclaimer saying the job posting is not open to Colorado. That’s how employers get away with the law.

Yes it is

They should also include the rent on a 1 bedroom apartment in the city as well

As if it matters, it's a range. Example: Deloitte manager 115-175k.

Nah that is SC pay. Colorado law had SC at 105-185k, M at 115-220.

likefunny

Companies will just get maliciously compliant with the salary "ranges". Somewhere between min wage and a gazillion dollars.

Oddly specific but did anyone in the NY 2nd dept have to wait forever to get through C&F? I’ve been waiting almost 5 months. Maybe this is normal but the 1st dept seems to get people admitted much quicker.
