It’s been like that for years. The system is broken, not the people. The industry keeps demanding more while valuing less. Time, energy, and expertise are all treated like they’re endless.
it does feel like creative reviews have become much much shorter
It’s always been the norm, unless you force leadership to collaborate with you on consolidated feedback.
PM here - Reco you plan interim reviews / workshops with strat and come to account with a reco that’s strategically sound ;)

I do think that Teams has fundamentally shifted things. With some team members remote, everything has to go on the calendar. If you’re putting it on the calendar better get a room, if you’re getting a room, might as well invite the FYI’s. Before you know it, everyone’s calendar is back to back and we spend all day in meetings. And so you spend most of the meeting multi tasking so you can actually have the work you need done, done in time for your next meeting. Which means you don’t fully pay attention in any meeting until you absolutely have to - ie the day before, or often the night before because night time is the only time where you don’t have 6 meetings and can actually think.
Hence short review times (calendars were a mess today!) and substantive feedback at the last second.
Feel like I wrote this comment except it’s the account people and creative directors giving me grief hours before I present to client.
Why is strat adding comments in the deck? At most we do a strat and creative vibe check to ensure work is on strategy before it goes to account. Then account adds comments with all the client direction they failed to mention at kick off. Repeat.
At the place I’m at Strat even sends comments to illustrators, or rather…they puke them out on Slack and Figma, ans expect creatives to collate and walk the artist through their “thoughts.” I hate them. I love my paycheck though.
