Is utilization common across all big 4? I’m coming from a boutique firm and curious about it. It sounds super scary to me…

Joined EY India a few months ago in tech consulting and have been working 12 hrs a day + 4-5 hrs on weekends and official holidays too. My project has literally 2 people (1 technical ie Me) and I'm myself new to the technology. I'm expected to make magic happen out of thin air and I don't know how I'm gonna survive here. Any advice?

Received offer from BCG for ECT AD role. Read numerous comments about ECT being not attractive compared to Generalists track. Also heard challenges about billability/utilization. Any views/guidance is appreciated.

Background - I am not super keen to become an equity partner and comfortable to stay on ECT track. Main reason to join will be opportunity to work with different clients, smart talented people and good brand. I may consider going back to industry after 3-5 years in ECT.

The role is definitely a step up in terms of responsibilities from my current role as a senior consultant. A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Specially that he considers the potential layoff is purely based on the current situation (chargeability was low) and not on his performance (they said that his contribution to BD during his bench time was low)?

Should I tell them how much im making now, which is admittantly at the very top of the SC band, or counter with a range that’s more than I’m making?
