Someone mentioned that if you open a blue cash preferred, Amex would utilize the date you open your corporate card rather than the date you opened the new card. Anyone confirm? Also is it worth it?
I’m the person who tells people it’s okay to open up at work about mental health issues, and that it’s okay to talk about it. I’m also the person who struggles with mental health but will likely not talk about it at work because of the past experiences I’ve had where colleagues brushed it off and told me to let it go/be better. I just don’t want others to not have anyone to talk to… but maybe it’s really me who doesn’t have anyone to talk to…
Was hired into a company at a level that was more junior than my skills (Was out of work due to pandemic for a year). I’ve been at the company 5 months. We’re going through a reorg and my new position will really be leveraging my years of experience more so than other role. Is it appropriate to discuss a raise/adding senior to title? Or should I do the job and then prove myself then talk about raise. I have more experience than the senior members of my team.
New Director in Turnaround & Restructuring - contacted by Alvarez & Marsal and AlixPartners to join. Wondering what salary bands/bonus are for Director / Senior Director at both places and progression to MD? Note I work in the UK and for what it’s worth am considered on partner track so want to make the right choice. Thanks in advance!
I am having my first child soon and my husband refuses to get a driving license. I feel extremely unsupported in this whole journey and any advice/thoughts will be helpful.
Tax/Withholding question: I make ~100k, my work withholds about 20% on my base, and over 30%whenever I get a bonus (actually) My wife makes about 150k, her work withholds 27% on her base, and over 35% on her bonuses (bi-weekly) Standard deductions, we live in NJ. Is this normal, should we adjust any withholdings? What would our refund (if any) look like? Any and all advice is appreciated—thanks!!
Moms, both husband and I are nearing the end of our parental leave. We live in a two bedroom in NYC. We are thinking of hiring a nanny. The plan is that I would work from one room and husband would work from another room. We can move the changing table and pack n play in the living room, and the nanny and the baby can hang in the living room. Does this sound like a good plan?

I recently posted about moving to Antigua and Barbuda to live and work remotely on the digital nomad visa. Several people expressed interest in how I'm doing it, so I created an instagram. I'm documenting the steps of emigrating including pet import licenses, enrolling kids in an international school, cooking local food, and assimilating to life in the Caribbean. For those who are interested, check me out at: https://www.instagram.com/webelongbythesea/
I desperately want to teach JH History, but every job I interviewed for told me no thanks, they only want coaches (two even specified male!!). Super disheartening. Hopefully one day I can do it.
What type of raises do you see YoY in industry? Typically a F500 company. Please leave % raise and also role. Thank you!
For those of you who attended an MBA program, what did you do when you were not in the classroom? Besides traveling, partying, studying/homework, interviewing, etc. Were you often attending events to network, getting lunch with faculty, enjoying a hobby, something else? Thanks!
Note to removal defense lawyers. Bond approved last Tuesday, one week before today’s merits hearing. Client couldn’t get out of jail because bond payments in central Ohio can only be made on Tuesday and Thursday. Luckily, Judge continued hearing so client can be placed on non-detained docket. Lesson is to know when bond can be paid in your area to try to avoid future problems.
Just finalized and booked my wife and I to a vacation in Europe for end of the year. Feels amazing to call it our honeymoon after 4 years of marriage ❤️ Delayed gratification and totally worth it.
