My OPEX department (industry setting) was recently transitioned to a new director and he fundamentally disagrees with the last 2 years’ of approach and work. I was told that this is nominal and I continue to drive the strategy but he keeps sending stinker that all this will fail everyday and his feedback doesn’t match the other feedback we have.. but he has say in my impending promotion while he is a jerk and knows nothing on fundamentals we are building.. contd on advice needed...
Going to be an experienced hire from a boutique, starting as Consultant in London. I gather that in terms of trying to drive greater choice of projects & greater promotion opportunities, you need to network internally. What does this mean? What’s the best way to do this (remotely & not) as an experienced hire?
Hi Accenture 🐠, I recently moved to a different state and bought a 🏡 here. Can I still keep my affiliation with my precious office (SF)? Or do I need to switch? What is the policy? Also, I am up for a promotion. Will the change of office impact my promotion? Thanks.
Will Big 4 let you stay as SM if you don’t want to make partner but are still hitting SM targets? Once you take the promotion BS and partner-promotion-chasing out of the equation SM is quite fun!
Best city to start and raise a family? No kids just yet. Currently in NYC (midtown) but tired of high rents after 3 years. Wife wants west coast. I want warm weather!
Got an offer from another company with 50% increase. Current company matched it. Think the match will affect my raise at the end of the performance year?
When is the right time to tell your firm manager and your engagement team you’ll be quitting to go to school? I am up for promotion this year and my firm manager is pushing me to do a bunch of things to prepare my business case and I’ve just been going along with it because I don’t know when it’s appropriate to give them the heads up since it’s several months away 😅
How long do you typically have to be at a firm to get a raise? Joining big D next week and heard they’re giving raises in December.
When you don’t make promotion and get let go, anyone know what kind of termination that is? (“for cause”, lay-off, etc)
Wife just got an offer to go from KPMG (Manager up for promotion to SM) to Deloitte (as Manager) do you recommend pushing SM or come in as Manager with runway. Also, any recommendations for first 6m?
Does transferring into M&A effectively “reset” your career/promotion progress? Eg. if you’re a 2nd/3rd year Senior prior to transfer, would you spend 3 more years as a senior in M&A?
Can anyone provide insight into Deloitte Consulting GPS salaries? I have a call with a recruiter this week and would like some insight. I have 2.5 YOE (I'm up for Senior promotion) and the job requisition was for a finance operations consultant. Thanks in advance!
Is it common for firms to do a mid year ‘market adjustment’ that basically makes it where they’re paying you the same as what industry pays? I’m a first year manager going into my second year and just got a 10% bump that essentially makes the 20% raise on departure to industry impossible. 🤷🏻♂️
No new from RP yet about promotion but Got an email from Independence Checkpoint about a new portfolio due within 5 days. Does that mean I made manager?
I always get asked “do you have questions” in interviews. What are some good questions to ask that might impress the sr creatives I’m interviewing with?
Has anyone switched to a standing desk? Do you feel more productive? Was it worth it? Did you switch at the office or at your home?
Anyone willing to provide a Consulting referral at Deloitte India management consulting? 9+ years of work ex in Industry. Top tier MBA. Aiming for a Manager / Sr. Manager role.
Something a little more fun that got me thinking - attended a Zoom dinner party with a French guest and an English guest. They asked what typical American dinners are. I didn’t quite know how to answer fairly since I’m from the Midwest, and that answer can be so regional, not to mention cultural! What are the two meals you think of first when you think of your families? Definitely interested in anyone who is not American too!
Any recommendations on airlines or hotels for a long call due to corona virus ? Or is it too early to tell when will be the rebound?
A partner submitted my resume to her firm’s recruiting department and I got called in for an interview. I’m researching the interviewers and one is the hiring attorney. Is that a good sign or routine? (I haven’t worked in big law to know.)
What is the federal parental leave policy? I’m new to government and having a baby soon. I know we’re given 12 weeks and have to sign an agreement to work 12 weeks after we return but are there other stipulations to a claw back period or how long we had to be at the agency first?
Can anyone from PwC audit practice share the holiday timeline/firm shutdown schedule during December-January? I am about to join the firm but don’t have all the details yet. Planing a trip during Christmas time. Thanks in advance.
Anyone here from Capgemini Invent that I can discuss a role with, and potentially get a referral from?

What is the EY FSO-Finance Transformation practice like - does anyone have insight? Also, EY in general - benefits/culture/upper management? I heard about the flexible vacation, how does that work exactly?
What do you do in a Strategic Partnerships role?
After 2 years I finally rolled off a stressful project and it feels great! My energy and my over all well being have significantly improved. This morning I feel like I’m ready to take on the world!
My overdue promotion (PM to Sr PM) is in progress, but processing is taking a while due to company Covid delays. Is it inappropriate to ask my manager what the salary increase will be? (It’s killing me to wait and wonder if it’s lower than I’m expecting)
New to Project Management. Today my company asked me to PM a new customer Project. The Project is assigned a team with a technical lead. My career so far has been in development, but I have already been a lead on projects where managers had little presence and I had to do a lot of customer interactions. However, I have never been present in a project kick-off and high level decision making processes. What do I need to find out on early stages of the discussion, and what to ask in onboarding?
I am in sixth year at a top firm in Toronto. I’m considering lateraling to another firm that does very similar work to what I’m currently doing, essentially because I strongly dislike the culture at my current firm. If you have lateraled for a culture-related issue, what do you wish you had asked before signing? Do you think there is a way to truly suss out culture before working somewhere? I have several law school classmates at this new firm so will obv ask them.
