Is your firm making you bill a minimum number of hours per day to keep your job? Wondering how it makes sense? 🤔 Pre corona, it was normal to have some underbilled days, as long as you offset that

So technically, our firm is making us bill the minimum every day, but they have also said our jobs won’t be in jeopardy if we are ultimately billing the minimum by the end of the month. They are keeping of track of who is getting their billing in every day and who isn’t. They are reaching out to those people on the weekend if they aren’t complying. There have been days I’ve billed under the minimum, but most days I bill over, and am on track to far exceed the monthly minimum, so no one has ever reached out to me to say that it is a problem when I bill below the minimum. Now, communication with my supervising partner and firm management where I work is excellent. I suggest that if you are unclear as to what your firm’s policy ultimately means, you should speak to your superior and get clarification.

Hi, everyone! I am extremely passionate about issues such as climate change and gun violence, and how money in politics leads to inaction and disinformation regarding these issues. Does anyone have any insight as to where I should be looking for employment opportunities? Practice areas, the type of organization, traditional vs. non-traditional law jobs? Any help or guidance would be appreciated. I really want to make a change. Thank you!

The amount of people, even attorneys, who can't separate out the policy merits of abortion from the issue of whether it is a constitutional right is disappointing. I consider myself pro-choice ---I believe states should allow it, that the federal government can pass a statute to guarantee it, and that FDA statutes and regulations will preempt any state trying to ban chemical abortions through FDA approved drugs. Dobbs at its core is a case about the Due Process Clause, not the policy of abortion

I took adderall while I was studying for the bar and it really helped. I don’t have a prescription but am wondering if this likely means I have undiagnosed ADHD but don’t know how to bring this up to my doctor. I definitely have trouble focusing in general and have always been pretty dozey/aloof but have somehow gotten by and am now a third year associate who is doing okay without it. Do you think getting Aderall could help even though I’m doing fine? Maybe I’ll go from good associate to great

So stuck. What do I do? I joined this firm a year ago (4 yrs exp total) to grow/get more court/client exposure. Then 2 more-experienced associates were hired, pandemic, & all cases are divided between the other 2. I have no defined tasks except deficiency letters or the odd pro bono case. Boss claims it's mentoring. I still need to meet bill req.

Last wk Boss said I'll do more & my work was good, but today said I can't 2nd chair bc I don't have experience. I'm doing less now than my prior firm.
