We have a 97% volunteer vaccination rate at our high school (students and staff). I really appreciate that. When a student gets pulled for exposure, they give them a rapid covid test and when it comes out negative, send them back to class. It has drastically reduced students (and staff) having to quarantine. I appreciate not having to worry about myself or my students ending up in the hospital or worse dead.
My district is finding that the rapid tests have not been accurate for several students who later tested positive when given the PCR. Because they were sent back to class after the false neg from the rapid test, we had break-out cases in our school. Students & staff are now not allowed to come back to school after exposure (close contact) or a positive case unless they show a negative PCR test. Glad it is working out in your school.
Wow! Well I went for my vaccination as soon as it was offered. My husband had COVID …. the scary one where you end up in the hospital. After 3 weeks of caring for him, bathing him, feeding him, and checking his oxygen levels …. I didn’t need to be told. After 4 weeks and a loss of 25 pounds (ok so I did envy him for that but I can think of others ways to lose weight 🤷🏽♀️) he arose, weak and unable to perform his teaching responsibilities. He returned to work too weak amd winded to teach. I was his driver for weeks because of this. Ok …. That’s my truth and now I’m off my soapbox.

Nothing. It's still your choice. Sometimes choices have consequences
Don't we teach our kids that every day?
Anyone advocating for the vaccine to be mandated “like all the other ones”…
When there are longitudinal studies, with control groups, that focus on long term safety, then we can start comparing Covid Vaccine to the other mandated vaccines.
The average length of time for vaccines to be approved is 10 years.
I mean, science, right?
I want to thank those of you for willfully participating in this experiment, but to advocate for an experimental vaccine… shame on you!
Whom are we serving here? Who are we protecting? We are protecting the children, others, and ourselves from a terrible flu. This flu is deadly. It’s about us, yes and God gave us free Will, choice, but we are also called to use wisdom here. We have to have all our other vaccines in order to teach, what’s one more that could truly save lives? I hear you Arizona. I think back to why I went into teaching in the first place. I’m in it for the kids and to make a difference in “All” lives, and yes there are adjustments and sacrifices we need to make along the way. If we can’t comply then I know I would choose to move on and change my teaching practice out of the school system. Hang in there. Things will change when you set your sights on Wisdom, Hope and Loving the people you serve.

Not a requirement in my district yet, but I'll say again, if it happens, they'll be giving me my walking papers. No way am I playing jab Roulette to keep my job.
I agree with you, as I am quarantining at home right now after I tested positive for covid, but have been vaccinated (based on serious pressure from family members and school district). A notable percentage of family members and friends of mine that had been vaccinated did get covid with different symptoms. One of them passed away.
The power is in numbers, if enough of us say “NO!” They’ll have no power!
Why would we do that? The "numbers" know the statistics, trust the experts, and care about students.
I have been vaccinated and so has every member of my family. I strongly believe in vaccines and encourage others to educate themselves and get the vaccinate. That being said, I also believe people’s choice should be respected. We are having difficulty staffing our buildings as it is...what will happen to our schools when teachers are let go/quit because of this issue?
Vaxed teacher can catch and spread it too. 😒
I take a picture of the same test every week.
Illinois High School 5:
Right now, I am at home quarantined. I tested POSITIVE 5 days ago and am completely asymptomatic to this day. Please note: the virus could be spread by those who do not know they have covid. I'm a witness to this. Yes, for those of you who insist on knowing: I'm vaccinated.
You just have to do a test to show you don’t have Covid. How can they mandate that. That is insane!
What do you gain by it? Everything that was supposed to happen after you were "vaccinated" did not happen. You still have to wear a mask, you can still contract it as well as spread it. My sister in law was fully vaccinated and got a bad case of it with a blood clot in her lung plus passed it to her unvaccinated children and grandchildren! Also I know of 3 healthy people that died right after they got the vaccine and one teen boy who now has a severe heart problem.
Just like the MMR. Just like DPT. Just like the finger print card. If you don't like the new requirements, quit.

IES, I always firmly supported flu vaccinations and not just because of death but because of serious illness, absenteeism, etc.
Death isn't the only concerning outcome of Covid. Hospital bills for people who get seriously ill and survive. Long term cognitive, heart, pulmonary complications. Figuring out where the income would come frome if long term illness took me out of work. What happens if I can't walk? If I can't drive?
These are issues q significant percentage of survivors have to figure out. So, no, I might not die of Covid but that is not how I would prefer to live.

Not yet. I hope they do! Masks are required, contract tracing done, sanitizing is up to us.
If we are union members the district pays sick days if we contact covid. No union- employee has to use banked sick days. Just found that out at our Union mtg this am.
Every person should have the freedom of choice. With a 99.995% survival rate, there is no need for mandatory vaccination. This is a moneymaker for BIG Pharma, FDA, etc. Plus natural immunity is more effective. Religious exemptions should be taken into account (aborted fetus used during testing). Not to mention the 17,000 plus deaths reported with the vaccine. Did you know the swine flu vaccine was canceled after 25 deaths? People need to do their own research and look beyond mainstream media.
Amen!!!!
Weekly testing or get vaccinated every week. Non compliance will equal termination.
Wonder if you'd honestly answer if you have always gotten the flu vax?
seeing that this is unconstitutional, I would get a lawyer and a class action law suit. Teachers and health care workers in other areas of the country are having this issue as well and the law is falling on their side.
NES1- True, but it partially undermines some of the “reasoning” being used in defense of the rejection. And because heard immunity does exist for other diseases because we have developed and mandated many vaccines, especially for students attending schools, people rejecting the COVID vaccine will be lumped in with anti-vaxxers. Just as anti-vaxxers get the partial blame for outbreaks of such things as measles and whooping cough, people who are rejecting this vaccine will be held partially responsible for prolonging the pandemic and the restrictions and deaths that result whether they like it or not.
Whichever side of the argument you are on, I believe it should be a personal choice rather than a mandate or job requirement.
AHS2 Not as many as unvaccinated proportionately.
Weekly tests if not vaccinated, discipline process for those who won't comply.
Keep your union reps involved
Good
My partner works for a big company that sent out a vax mandate this week with a severance procedure for non compliance. For those “taking their stand”, do not assume you will be welcomed in another work setting.
All employees of my district must be vaccinated fully by December 20th
Not here, but watching other states carefully. Grateful for those educators that are taking the first stand for medical freedom.
So you are pro choice then?
South Carolina is NOT mandating it yet. Thank goodness! I will have to retire when/if they do start forcing it on us.
Arizona, Just like a liberal, you can’t agree to disagree. In your head your way is the only right way.
