My company posted a job opening for a management position for my department and I read the job description… it is literally, line by line, a description of what I do now. I asked what the deal was and was told I should apply and that I’m qualified for the position. Should I be pissed that they didn’t ask me if I was interested in that type of position before they put out a job opening for an external candidate?

I’ll be retiring from a public school system in the next 3-5 years. My husband, a Navy vet, and I are tossing around the idea of then relocating to a country that has a military base nearby. We’d both be interested in at least part-time gigs: me as a teacher preferably on base and he’s open to jobs on or off base. Does anyone know any educators currently doing that or planning to??
