People act in their own self-interest. If you’ve ever driven a car, it shouldn’t surprise you that a lot of people do not care about the safety or wellbeing of others as long as they’re getting what they need.
And the bigger the car, the more this is true

It's called desensitization.
Or “context” - which amounts to the same thing.
I may sound blunt but people care about their personal and own family health and S&P 500 index than they care about 115K deaths. It is collateral damage. Collateral damage has been fed to people since Vietnam war.
Collective health in an infectious disease market has not crossed people's mind.

Exactly America is built on same ideology. Americans came here, killed natives roaming on these lands

It really comes down to the 2020 election. That is driving the entire response. GOP thinks that the economy is the only thing that matters so it is half-adding the Covid response to get the economy good again. That is the explanation.
Trump could have shown more leadership and benefitted from the rally around the flag effect like other world leaders. But he didn’t do that at all and was publicly resistant to doing anything to allay people’s concerns or take the matter seriously.
Now everyone has moved on to other things, but it is still the worst abdication of presidential leadership in decades.

Right. There was a sense that they could underplay Covid and focus on the economy, but the two are linked! Other countries have people going back to work, kids in school, restaurants open. But we are just sort of letting the spread happen now. 🤷♀️
Seriously? Did you make the same post during flu season? What about abortion rates?

Nearly 150K people die daily worldwide. Approx 1/3 of this is from cardiovascular disease. Maybe we should focus on this a bit?

The difference between the US and the rest of the developed world is that in other countries, the number of cases has declined precipitously such that it is now safe to open up again. Some countries have eliminated Covid entirely.
Here, the number of cases has declined slowly, and is reaching new peaks in at least 15 states including Texas. This is due to an overall weak effort at actual lockdown, a resistance to mask-wearing to own the libs or whatever, and general indifference to the crisis from the federal government. Now some states are opening back up even as their case counts never really declined in the first place. Is this really the state of affairs we want?

I understand the point of the message but Indy Motor Speedway has a capacity of 257k+.
