It blows my mind how much kinder and more supportive the members of this group are than the Big Law group and the Law group more generally. Like men really are trash, huh? Ive seen the same questions asked/posts in both groups with vastly different responses. See this is yet another one of the many reasons diversity matters in the legal profession. And another reason why women should be free to bring of the qualities that make women great to the table in the workplace instead of emulating (cont.

My small boutique firm had a few meh white guy associates leave in the last 6 months. I (the only female associate at the time I was hired) have the ear of the managing partner and got him to hire 3 outstanding female associates with stellar credentials. I'm manifesting a Renaissance! I also made sure those ladies got killer offers.

Do you feel like hiring with diversity in mind is sometimes necessary at the cost of merit-based hiring? How might one go about it in a way that's respectful and moving toward greater diversity when you happen to have a pool of candidates for a particular role in which it would be a choice you have to make?

Anyone have thoughts on diversity at Apple?

I am frustrated as a Gay Woman who has given her all for 30+ years grinding to be the best. I have been in closet, out of closet, in-between and am tired of it. I want to be VALUED as a human being. I have gone from Rock Star to problem when people "found out". I have trained and promoted hundreds of people and been passed over for promotions because of not being a man. I have trained men with less experience, worse results only for them to move forward. If Diversity is important...prove it!

Hey Gente, Im applying for jobs and I wanted to get others opinion on the race part of the application process. As an indigenous LatinX I worry that if I put indigenous it won’t tick the “diversity” box for the algorithm or recruiters. So I recently started a position with Fox. When it was presented to me in interview, I was told I would be working aligned with Fox Sports & Entertainment, not so much News. Now that I’m here, I’m seeing everything I’ll be doing is with the News team & makes me uncomfortable. No diversity, outdated software & process.
Financially, it’s the best position I been in. But mentally in this environment, it’s depressing & slow. Nothing innovative or engaging. What would you do?

[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture

I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am

I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)

Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?
