Is mid-June too early for a small birthday party (3 or 4 friends) for my teenager? We are in MN and socially distant groups of 10 or less are "allowed" technically. My poor kid is so lonely.
4 year old in my kid’s daycare got COVID and parents said it was pretty bad. A reminder to stay vigilant parents with kids too young to get vaccinated!
Most awkward Uber stories? My uber driver showed me a picture of her baby. Um, it was a doll.
New companies color palette makes decks look like a circus. Do I just confirm and adopt the new aesthetic, or follow my own intuition and choose a similar palette which might make the deck look better.
Hi, I’m currently on parental leave and interested in doing some minor side huddling like case coaching or college essay editing etc. Something consultants can do well and easily. Are there known websites/ forums to offer these services and get connected to clients?
Any advice for how to ask my husband to get more involved in childcare and/or help around the house? I love him but I really wish he would put down the phone and pick up the baby more (2m old)
Does anyone’s big law firm offer paid maternity leave for female equity partners? Or is it offered but self-funded?
My SO has been a pot smoker for nearly 20 years. He's smoked nearly daily since he started in college, sometimes multiple times a day. I've always had issues with it, but since he was high functioning I didn't mind it too much until we recently had a child together. After baby was born, he continues to smoke multiple times a day and didn't have a problem with his family smoking in the house until I called him out and got into a huge fight. Continued in the comment...
Agonizing over whether to take 6 weeks of unpaid maternity leave. My son is 4.5mos old, so I’ve been home awhile. We can swing it financially, but would have to dip into savings. Opp cost is high...
Am I burnt out, lazy, or pregnant? Jk I’m always this fatigued, but I’ve officially hit the quarantine burnout wall I thought I’d been avoiding :/
Just found out I’m pregnant with my first (married). It’s a welcome surprise but was hoping to make manager summer of 2021. What should my move for promotion be? I’d be due in Nov, mid years are Dec.
Any rumors of PWC joining the parental leave arms race? EY and Deloitte upped theirs to 16 weeks paid leave, while Don Draper PwC kicks new parents in the nuts and tells them to get back on the road
I am humbled and in a state of shock. My best friends father (who is a client) has spinal cancer and been given a very short time to live. No bullshit jokes on this please, just tell me what VA will give me the best DB.
Did that guy get back together with his lady? Did that 31 year old decide to keep the baby? Are Cis-gendered white men still a thing?
Has anyone starting trying to get pregnant after starting at a new firm or did you wait at least a year ?
Official offer came in. 3 YOE, 132k base, 20k sign on bonus. Located in Seattle. How much more (if any amount) should I request for my base?
Alvarez & Marsal, anyone join at the junior level and now Director or MD? Curious how you think about WLB over time - bonus is obviously structured in such a way, as is the leave policy. But... are you always switched on, or do you feel you have time to breathe?
Does anyone know how the Workday Transfer Certification process works if you are leaving for another WD partner firm?
Anyone have any sense of the Franchise market right now? I feel like I am constantly seeing big law job ads, and I’m wondering if the grass is greener but also enjoying my newish role at a lifestyle firm. Other than compensation and benefits no reason to consider the jump but I don’t even have health insurance and I am only making low six figures. I am about five years out and have a good reputation with clients who have worked with larger firms...wonder if any big law firms would let me wfh.
How long before a firm pushes out a burnt out senior associate? Has anyone been in that position? How long? Was the firm direct or was it subtle? Am a corporate associate so may have a tiny bit of leeway in this hot market but not by much
Anyone wants a referral?
I am on H1-B visa, open to relocate and looking for State & Local Tax (Income/Franchise) Experienced Senior/Manager opportunity. Which companies are currently hiring visa candidates? Appreciate the responses, thank you!
For those of you who are in-house, how did you get comfortable with needing to be more of a generalist? I know some in-house roles, especially at large companies, are specialized. However, even then it just seems like you’re expected to know about so many different areas (with far less support than at a firm). I’m tired of billable hours, but I really love (& feel more comfortable) being a specialist.
Anyone from the BB banks. What are the average yearly hikes and bonus % at Associate, VP and Director level in strategy roles?
Pre-MBA strategy 🐠, I’m wondering what kind of salary ranges you have seen when moving to a strategy role in a startup or industry? Trying to evaluate an offer I received and I have no benchmarks
Entry level salary for a PM in NYC? (Big agency) The Real Agency Salaries spreadsheet didn’t have a ton of data for PMs
What does all in comp look like for a Director (or manager, whatever is the step immediately above Associate) in Corp Dev?
Have any of you seen people leave PA to go into sales? Looking at SDR roles at tech companies currently. Base salary is about $15k less than what I currently make but the up side is so much higher. PA seems like the perfect setup for me but at the end of the day you can’t sell something you’re not passionate about.
Hi all! I’m talking to someone tomorrow on the team for a role I’m super keen on. Luckily enough (not sure If this is good timing) when I reached out to them a few weeks ago and confirmed the time for us to connect, a job in their area opened up a few days later. I’m super keen on trying to push my application and ask about the role (already applied but without a referral :() How would you approach the conversation? I’m a little intimidated since it’s at a hot tech company and they’re MBB.
On pace for ~3750 billable hours this year. Worst three months of 17 year career. Send help plz
Advice Needed: Last month I was laid off from work, however, since have been able to secure another position with another firm (located 90 minutes from my house in a more rural part of the state) doing real estate closings. Aside from the commute and the work (not incredibly fulfilling or challenging) the job is fine. I do consider myself incredibly fortunate to be employed during these challenging times. Do I aggressively continue my job search or wait until the beginning of the year?
St Regis butler emailed me so many times before my trip that I felt like I was going to the St regis just to visit him. When I met him, it was as if we already knew each other.
I work at a tech law boutique in Colorado. We only do commercial transactions and M&A. We’re hiring attorneys with 3+ years of experience. Must be barred or willing to be barred in Colorado. This is truly a “lifestyle” firm. My benefits are amazing, my hours requirement is only 1500/year, and the pay really good. If you bill more than the minimum, you’re rewarded extremely well for it. I would love to work with more POC. If you think you might be a good fit, send me a DM 🤓
