It is going to be fascinating to see how we view the fighting over school mask mandates in 20-30 years once we have more historical context and perspective. It’s so crazy to me how divisive that question has become, whether students should have to mask

In two months we will have definitive results – and we’re already seeing some only a couple of weeks into the school year. Districts that require masks and their case volume versus those that don’t. Already we are seeing that those that don’t require masks have large outbreaks whereas those that do require them have very small clusters if anything. My niece just started kindergarten and couldn’t care less about wearing a mask – she’s not worried about it, she’s happy to be in school, and she’s learning effectively. This is such a no-brainer for anyone who is making rationally-driven rather than emotionally-driven decisions.

Masking children is a safety blanket for adults. It makes adults “feel better” about covid. That is all

Doesn’t seem like the decision is backed by science and from what I’ve been reading many other countries are taking an opposite stance.

The point is basically the first and last sentence of my post just above your first.

It’s crazy to me that the group who pretends to hate big government is flouting their own principals to prevent school districts to make decisions.

Every decision conservatives make is about making people they don’t like angry, even if it literally kills them.

Which mask are you referring to?

Wonder who’s to blame for something as simple and non controversial as wearing a piece of cloth over your face to prevent disease becoming a culture war?

Yep and vaccine requirements/passports are the way we vaccinated folks can continue to live our lives freely. Now each one of us has the freedom to choose vaccination or not. For those of us that do choose vaccination, behold, there are benefits offered to us by private businesses. For example: travel, entrance into the business’ establishment, employment, etc. Each person has the individual freedom to choose the vaccine and reap the associated benefits, or choose to remain unvaccinated. Choice is yours folks.

Kids don’t care at all about wearing masks. For a 5 years old it’s the same as wearing pants or tshirts. Not wearing a mask means when one parent gets COVID, the whole class does. And then their siblings do. And other classes. And soon enough someone dies.

Why wait 30 years? We can look at masking efforts and their outcomes during the Flu epidemic of 1918.

It’s dumb abs I don’t get why DeSantis is dying on this hill. I’m with him on lockdowns but this masking crusade is just a loser.

True. Elderly republicans don’t want their grandkids in the ICU, either, though. My mother is one and voted for DeSantis. She was okay with his original approach last year even where I thought he was making some bad decisions, but she is very upset about the current state.

Ever had an attorney randomly pull food that they somehow squished in their shoe during long court days. One day, it was taking forever in federal court due to the COVID backlog. An attorney was sitting at a table across from where I was sitting. Kept noticing him reaching down like he was scratching his foot then would bring his hand to his mouth. Very strange. Court concluded and I saw him by his car taking off his shoe and pulling a squished baggy with half a sandwich out of it.
