Hi All, I was hoping for some perspective. I signed onto my fund accounting roll for 95k after having completed 3 busy seasons. I have a colleague who has the same experience but signed on a few months later and negotiated 100k. I got played by my recruiter who was saying that my offer might get rescinded if I ask for more than 95k. I was a bit irked you live and you learn. Is there a way for me to negotiate a higher base raise come year end?

I finally asked for a promotion at work a month ago and I already changed my mind. It took me years to get to this point and I now realize I don’t want it/deserve it/have any desire to be a higher level doormat. Just put an offer in on a house. Single income: 127 + 10-30% bonus. Promo to M this June. Price: 705k w/ 20% down. 2.75% interest. How long is too long to wait for a raise? I've been waiting seven years and have had 2 title (and responsibility) promotions since the last raise. My manager says I deserve it and am long overdue. The CEO says we "can't afford it" and that "there are things that matter more than money." That's easy for someone not living paycheck to paycheck (during an inflation crisis) to say. I don't know what to do. How long is normal to wait? Especially with an employee's market like this?

Would it be looked down upon by industry if I became an independent contractor? S&O manager with 8 YOE. Unhappy in current role - work is not engaging and passed over for promotion. Have an opportunity to become a subcontractor with 1,200 min. annual hours for next 2 years. Take home pay would be 2X what I make currently, but would need to pay for my own insurance / other work expenses. If I do this, would firms I apply later for (after I figure what I want in life) look at this as a negative?
