It is often seen in tech roles that employees are able to do remote work. I wonder how engaged do these workers feel with the companies they work. Are these freelance? Full time? How do you get paid? The startup I work with provides perks and benefits to remote workers in addition to pretty convenient payment solutions (crypto, our e-Wallet, banks worldwide), and therefore I’d like to get to know your thoughts on this!

I’m guessing there are fewer job opportunities for people who choose more specific degrees, but that pay would be higher. Would you suggest a niche path or cast a wide net?

I recently asked for a raise as looking up medical assistant and years of experience in my area and found that I am not at market value for my position and 12 years of experience. I have not asked for one before or ever had any HR issues, write ups, warnings, etc. HR came back stating no to a increase as I am at 108% already per their market value. Does this make sense to anyone?

Got an offer for Atlassian Canada - senior product manager. Initial offer is 160k base +15% annual bonus (24k) + 20k sign on bonus. RSU is 220k USD payable over next 4 years. There's no RRSP match (401k match equivalent). Considering its Atlassian, and current market rate, I think base is low. I would like it to be bumped upto to 180k. The recruiter earlier said the top of the pay range is 165k, which I feel is not really top but maybe median? Help me negotiate please; historically suck at it.

I have a SM grade level with 13 years of experience as an IT Architect. I have joined Cognizant 3 years ago and my current salary is at 85k which is not that attractive to me. I applied to NBA for a Senior QA role. After the 4 rounds of interview, including the HR, HM and 3 rounds with the team, the recruiter told me I did pretty well, and I might be the one.
And then he ghosted me :)

Preparing for a final round interview at Meta and the recruiter mentions they’ve instilled a Product Design “hiring freeze” effective until August.

I’m still interviewing, but if I make it through, they can’t actually hire me until this freeze subsides.

Is this a red flag? Likelihood it actually is lifted in August? If it’s economy based, I would be surprised if by August the market is better not worse.
