I used to keep a running list on states and how nice each states rep was
Wisconsin agents have always been good to me.
nice + helpful😆
The worst states I've ever talked to were NY and Massachusetts. Something about those northern states...
The nicest are your southern states.
It all depends. I used to hate CO until I talked to a very nice one. AR is good. AZ overall is not bad either although I had a few bad ones. As a SALT person, I don't mind calling and talking to state agents at all.
How do you handle the elevator music while you wait though?? I can’t focus while it’s going, so it’s always super unproductive for me :(
My strategy is to strike up a friendly conversation while they wait for the POA fax to come through. Most experiences I’ve had were great as the agents do appreciate not having to talk about tax for a few minutes before getting down to business
If you think about it, they’re like call centers. If you kill them with kindness, they’ll definitely be more accommodating and that works to your advantage. Plus, makes a nice distraction from all the tax returns lol
I agree 100% whether it’s a federal or state tax agent. When it happens I’m always like “oh, there actually are some competent people working in government” and I wish I could say that more often but haven’t been able to based on my experience 😅
I make jokes about not knowing how to fax and they usually laugh at me and after that they’re usually nicer lol
