I am not sure what to do. My company just had another round of massive layoffs. So far my job was spared. I do got a job offer from a different company but the salary is way lower than what I have now (20,000$ less). Should I choose for financially stability but with a lower salary, or take the risk, keep the higher salary, but have a high chance to loose it as the company isn’t doing great.
You just probably get that impression because more ppl on h1b post about wanting solutions and have a dire situation, we end up seeing the posts. Guilty of this myself as I posted being on h1b some multiple posts after being laid off

Of 3-4 people I saw here being laid off from D, all were on H1B.
Selection bias
Rising Star
I'm certain any large enough firm would make sure that the layoffa arent targeting POC or women disproportionately. Not sure about immigrants (i.e. on visa) because I'm not sure we have any protection under the US law. As long as the 2 factors above are controlled for
Not that I have seen any, but probably a pr disaster if firms do it
No not true . That would be a PR disaster for any firm ( either which way ). All firms get legal counsel before doing layoffs - I imagine this would be considered!
I don’t think they are doing it on purpose, but unconscious bias may be contributing to it
