I’ve never heard of any firm actually doing anything other than hiring white women and calling it a diverse & inclusive workplace

Can confirm for the nonprofit realm as well lol.

Guys. I just started at a firm that is hands down the most diverse firm I’ve ever worked at. They have actual plans on promoting diverse attorneys. They check to make sure diverse attorneys are getting the same experiences as there peers. They put their money where their mouth is. I am on case teams of all black attorneys (never even been at a firm with enough black attorneys to do that if we wanted). Granted I’ve been here two weeks but I am so impressed.

Wow

My boss is black and I’m the only other black atty. I am one of two female attys in the office. There are no other attys that are people of color. We don’t have any mentorship programs.

My firm asks me (Latino) to attend networking events and speak on panels about my experience as a diverse attorney. But they don’t actually do anything to promote diversity; I’m one of two Latino lawyers in my firm’s LA office.

like

How how law firms don’t realize the need for more Latino attorneys in LA specifically where like nearly or over half the population is Latino is beyond me. Truly baffling. Not to say that all POC shouldn’t be represented well (they should) but SOCal in particular and LA specifically is just a given in order to reflect their immediate society. I don’t get it.

Worked at a few big law firms. Rarely was anything meaningful done.

You CAN be that leader that people want to work with. 1st, self assessment is required. Be honest: As a leader, have you engaged in/accepted Attribution Bias with a dash of gender &/or race bias? (See the pic) This is something we all need to be aware of as we lead our teams, provide performance feedback, & model the behaviors we'd like to see more of on our teams. Be on the lookout for Attribution Bias in yourself & on your team. It's a hindrance to creating a high-performing, inclusive culture.

Hello Everyone, I am looking to hire a couple of technical sources who have a keen interest in diversity. I am building out a diversity sourcing team to support AWS AI/ML practice. Great opportunity with lots of visibility. Let me know if you are interested in learning more.

Inclusiveness vs diversity: I think internally, inclusiveness is extremely important, and advantageous to a firm. Recruiting efforts however, should be race/creed/color/protected party agnostic.

I’ve been thinking about leaving my job for a couple of years, but one thing that always stopped me was this nagging feeling that I would be letting women down by not staying and making partner and improving the “ratio.” But I just got a job offer to be an executive at a company where I’ll be the *only* female leader, so I guess I’ll still be contributing to gender equality after all! 💪🏻 Very excited about this new opportunity! But also SUPER nervous!

I’ve been hanging with a coworker and their significant other a lot lately and I’m starting to get a crush on my coworker’s partner...and I think it might be mutual bc there’s a slight sensual tension whenever it’s just the two of us talking I left out gender on purpose just in case my coworker is on here lmao
