It took mandatory WFH for people to realize that internet should be treated as a utility like gas water and electricity and not something that can be monopolized at $100 for 100mbs.

I don’t follow what you are saying. You listed consumption based utilities as examples of what internet should be and then cited your consumption based internet fee. I don’t get a choice in water or gas either and at least in my area I have several ISPs to price check. I don’t like their contract based model but electricity is similar.

I like it generally when under contract but as soon as it expires they hit you with higher rates and then you have to go through the hassle of switching providers (or pretending to switch so that the loyalty department will call you back and give you their newer rate to keep you). The benefit is every 1-2 years is I can improve my overall up/down speed. I’m almost to my contract expiration and my neighbor was able to negotiate 1000mbps (gigabit) up and down fiber for $39.95 locked in for a year. I’m at 300/300 now for same price.

Yes. Let's make internet a utility and go back to dial up. Sounds like a great idea.

I love it. Anecdotal evidence is the strongest kind. I also love uninformed opinions. Did you know the federal government rolled out subsidies for telecoms to roll out fiber to America and they didn’t deliver? Before you say “but I have fiber”, no the extent they were suppose to. Where’s that major discovery there? Competition only works when there is enough players in the market.

Cool, they also claimed the caps were good for consumers.

100 for 100mbps? You are over paying.

A quick google search will tell you that ISPs are not regulated by the state/municipality the way utility companies are. They are free to do whatever they want and complain about infrastructure costs ad nauseam to avoid providing better service. Gigabit wasn’t offered by Comcast until google tried to join in on the fun. All of a sudden the technology was available. What a load of utter bs

Where to go next? I've been a medical coder for 12yrs and hold a CPC & COC from AAPC. I've worked at a large Healthcare org, as a contractor for another large Healthcare org & lastly worked at a payor in their FWAE dept reviewing pre-pay claims. While I enjoyed my latest position in more of an auditing role, I am thoroughly over working a production environment. Where do I go from here? I live in SoCal & have worked remote for 11yrs & want to continue. I've yet to exceed $60k & really need to.

My coworker is struggling a lot at work, and he has been asking me for help whenever he has been assigned a task although he started before me.

As much as I don’t want to throw him under the bus, he does not understand basic math (PEMDAS) as a financial analyst. It has not been an isolated occurrence unfortunately……

My manager understands that he is struggling, but I’m not too sure to what extent.

Really disappointed with EY. Received news that a peer was let go for performance, but its completely evident this was bs. When people say the firm has no loyalty- believe it. Make sure to have your affairs in order- all expenses/benefits utilized, performance reviews saved and documented, client contacts saved (when applicable), knowledge of benefits transferral, anything else you can think of. Do not think for one second that you aren’t expendable.
