It would be so nice if we could all just work from home every day instead of the office (assuming you don’t need to be at a client).

The problem is that some people aren’t responsible enough to work unsupervised. They’ll play the green light game or generally slack off. I’ve been on teams that can work remotely, and generally everyone needs to understand they have to pull their weight or else there will be consequences. It’s a lot easier to just have people come in so that you don’t have to deliver those consequences and be the bad guy.

like

Well its easy to tell if you aren't pulling weight. This just punishes the good workers to avoid confronting the bad ones

I have cabin fever when I WFH for more than 2 days in a row. I like my desk in the office better too.

Same!!! I like interacting with people

How do you get to know the people you work with then? How do you build relationships? Ultimately some of those people leave and become clients. That’s how we generate business. There would be no culture and we are 100% relationship based industry.

like

I get to do that! Crowe has a “where to work” policy; as long as you’re able to get the work done and it doesn’t interfere with fieldwork you can be remote - no matter where that is

like

My old office was like that. Didn't care as long as you get it done. My new one is a bit more traditional and prefers people in office. Personally if I have no one to supervise and have a remote client I may as well stay home and work instead of commute. Especially in audit where people aren't even in the office most of the time, it's not like you'll be networking much in an empty office.

like

RSM 1 what was your old and what is your new office? I'm looking to transfer and it would help to know. Thanks!

If you don’t have to be at the client then what’s stopping you?

Is someone watching you/do you have to sign in and out? It seems like your office is very strict unfortunately

I work from home whenever I want, I like to every other day else I get lazy and end up turning a movie on or something. Doesn't hurt that I like my coworkers and want to see them sometimes too

Is it normal to get basically zero feedback? Brand new associate working at a mid sized firm. Been there a few months now and firm is still WFH. I get a fairly consistent amount of work. But I send my work product off into the ether and typically hear nothing or very little back (even when I follow up). I’ve gotten same vague “good work” feedback but that’s about it. I’ve drafted memos to clients and some briefs that have been sent/submitted nearly verbatim, so I assume that’s a good sign.
