How do you think real estate markets will change if clients become more remote friendly? The news talks about people fleeing high cost of living areas (Cities, Bay Area, etc.) but I can’t help feel like there will be some distance requirement that will keep a person tethered to a specific office once going into the office becomes feasible. This wouldn’t be too different to how consulting works. Predictions on what that model might look like? My guess is markets will go more or less unchanged.

I am a Canadian who applied for a NYC role and was given the offer but they presented it as a Canadian role in CAD salary instead of USD. I had expressed an interest in moving to NYC but HR countered saying it would take along time to get a TN visa approved and do not have budget for relocation. HR also said that if I was American (ie. lived in NYC), then it would be an American role. The team is based in US but the firm is full remote permanently. Anyone have insights to navigate this convo?

It took WFH to realize that consulting is not fulfilling at all and the only thing that made it feel fulfilling and important was the points and being able to interact with the client in person. Wow.

It seems me and the wife fight less now that I am not at home 24/7... I also think I appreciate her more now than during the height of COVID WFH.

What do your WFH/remote days look like? I find my self hopping on calls first thing in the morning and then going back to sleep for 2hrs. I’m only really productive for 3-4hrs in the afternoon.

I find it very odd when some of my awesome friends that are well educated with great career, find it funny to put their husbands down in social settings. Why would anyone do that to their partners in public regardless of how things are behind the door??

I have been an on-call coordinator with a large healthcare company for the past 8 years. I am on call 96 hours each week. During those 96 hours, I am required to always have cell and internet, answer calls on first ring if possible (within 15 minutes if missed), and log calls in real time. Before taxes, I make $700 a week. Am I being paid properly?

Got an email from Delta that my delay was reduced and that I was upgraded. Went to the gate and find out it was all a mistake, still back of the plane and the delay got longer. Fuckers.
