Don’t do it. Don’t whine to the practice lead. If you do it, frame it as “My recent projects have involved work that isn’t the perfect fit for my skillset, and I’ve picked up work left by others which makes it harder. Going forward I want to do projects that are a better fit for my current skillset and goals, can you please advise how to land projects where I can do xyz”

P.S. I almost regret leaving my old firm, as I feel like that the new one is not what it seemed to be..

Could you specify what practice this is for?

On the bright side when you find a project you like then you can push your current work streams on some unsuspecting schmo 😹.

I hope so..

Recently joined the firm as a project delivery specialist. During recruiting, the team harped on how great my background was and how much a good fit I would be for the firm/project... Well, I was on an onboarding call and they were talking about staffing and projects. The presenter said to reach out to them if you don’t think your project is a good fit. In his words “you were hired into the firm, not a specific project. We see you here long term... With the exception of PDM model” 😅 Cont.

Hey all, I’ve recently joined EY consulting from another Big 4 and have noticed there’s no discipline (at least in my team) around codes and charging time. People either charge a standard 7 hrs or some will charge time spent on internal activities to their client code. I was told that “the last person to charge their actual hours worked was promptly booted off the project”. Just wondering: 1) Is this a general cultural point accross all Consulting teams? Will challengin this get me in trouble?

Looking for advice! Ive been with my company a few years now, and although I’ve been given multiple salary bumps I still don’t feel like I’m being paid fairly for my workload. The raises I got were only after team members left and I basically absorbed their roles, and I started off at a very low wage. I’m super thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given and don’t want to come off as money hungry, but based on market research I’m still making well below average salary for my title.
