It's been 3 years and my boss still spells my name incorrectly in emails. She's a friendly boss, so at this point I'm just not going to correct her.

Start misspelling their name.

This is so wrong on so many levels. But you are allowing it to continue by not saying something and that's subconsciously sending the wrong message

Must still feel like a bit of a slap in the face, though. Sorry to hear that. Are you in the office? Maybe get one of those little magnet train sets for kids spelled out with the letters of your name and put it on your desk for her to see each time she comes into your office? 🤣

funny

if it's been 4 years I think maybe not so subtle at this point lol

You should correct her, I don't care who you are, you need to put some intentionality behind people's name. That irritates me so much!

Ummmm I feel like you should definitely correct her. Your name is your name, it isn't something else. Make it happen

Do you feel like they're doing it on purpose as a kind of power play, or they really haven't managed to learn the spelling of your name in all this time? Either way, how irritating.

I am a horrible speller but one thing I try to be super cautious about is people’s names. I make sure to double or triple check if it is a name I will have trouble with (letters I might mix up the order of for example). Please let this person know. If you do and she continues, it is just rude.

I get myself stuck in situations like this all the time lol.

And any writing software you boss uses has now been trained on how to ‘mis’spell your name so it’s showing up and a quick click of the tab key for 3 years the problem persists.

When I landed at the Newark airport and proceeded to Boston in 2005 I had just landed in this country with $ 325 in my pocket and was on a student visa. I racked up $ 100,000 in student loans over the next few years. Paid it all off by 2010 and today our net worth is $ 2.2 million projected to close at $ 6 million by the time I retire. Work hard. Stay humble. You can do anything in this country with capitalism and free enterprise.

As an interviewer, I find it very awkward when an interviewee has on a button-up with a tie and jacket. Heck, even just a button-up. Why do you wear that at home? Put your polo on, relax a little, and don't sit their like a stiff in your apartment bedroom with a fake background.
