I completed the interview process at Verizon and got verbal offer from HR on 23rd December,2021. But I have not yet received official offer letter. I did check with HR on Jan3rd and he mentioned that they are working on my offer approval. Does it usually take this long to release offer? Is it worth waiting? Verizon

PHR vs SHRM vs AIRS? Which one should I pursue?
Four days isn't that long. Don't lose faith yet! Also, it's always a good idea to follow up.
I'd recommend following up. Keep it short, polite, don't let insecurity show. It can literally be two sentences.
I occasionally have to recruit and I'll admit it's a less favorite part of the job because I have very little control over how it progresses. The hiring manager and other interviewers already have full-time jobs. Recruiting is extra work on top of that. It doesn't carry the same urgency/ deadlines, so if someone needs to drop a task, recruiting stuff is usually the first to go. Then as the recruiter, I'm left to tell candidates things are on hold or I haven't hear back yet, neither of which reflect well on a company or the hiring manager. Bottom line - don't get inside your own head yet and just know that the people on the other side of the process have got things that distract them from the process going on too.
Was there a scheduled day of announcement? If there was and it's past that, it's safe to follow up on the matter. If there wasn't such agreement, a week would be ideal for waiting. Hope you get the job!
I usually follow up in a week if I didn't hear anything. You can tell by the reaction time after that follow up email. If you are still in consideration usually they will schedule an interview or let you know what they are waiting for. If the recruiter doesn't respond at all( I found it really rude, why can't they just let me know they moved on?), then they have moved on.
4 days is really not ANYTHING in terms of hiring time, unless they told you in the interview that they were deciding the next day (I always ask for a time frame). I once had a third interview (with 5 different people) and didn't hear anything for 3 weeks, then it was to ask me to interview with one more person. I eventually got the position (!), but offer didn't come for another 4 weeks. It's challenging, but you have to carefully walk the line between showing interest, looking desperate, and being a pest. I would wait for at least a week. Good luck!
Did you accept that job? Was the company worth waiting for?
