It’s shedding light to executives that software companies don’t need that many employees.

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

How do I get into a project? How long do I have to wait more?

Just got out of a meeting with a client. Talk about uncomfortable- they'd fired their director that morning and he ran in screaming at the team. They ended up calling security to kick him out!

My department has moved to another location .
My job has found another role for me but it is not a lateral move and I will no longer be in management position and my new manger is my peer I’m still keeping my title and pay for now however I am going to meet with my manager and advise I would like to take the severance package .
I wonder if that is an option since they found me a new position …thoughts anyone ?

Recently started in-house from private practice, a few months in. New company has had 2 rounds of layoffs since I resumed. I’m getting nervous. Should I be looking to jump ship? I feel my role is valuable to the company but the layoffs have been indiscriminate. Great performers, ok performers, new employees, older employees! Hi all - my partner was laid off in April and still having a difficult time finding work in the DC area. Thanks to your advice earlier in the year, he’s back in school to finish his bachelors in IS Management + taking the NET+ cert exam soon. Will it be hard for him to find a job until he gets his degree or will the cert help with an entry level job to tie him over? I moved internally and my previous mgr gave negative feedback. Said deliverables needed to be redone, didn't finish tasks, was argumentative, etc. That was not the case. My current mgr and colleagues gave positive feedback. Current mgr said escalation to previous mgr and HR was an option. Is it worthwhile to escalate though? How much weight does the previous mgr's feedback have? Worried this would impact any layoff decisions either way.

When you are put on a PIP can you be fired at any point during the timeframe of the PIP or does it usually happen at the end of the PIP?
