This is the norm now and only getting worse during COVID. I’m at a senior level and you’d think I was being interviewed for the next CEO role with the number of interviews I’ve been through.

I interviewed with McKinsey and it was 15 or so interviews. 10 individual interviews with the team including people overseas in Germany and France, an interview with the client i’d be supporting, an interview with the former function head (think like former head of IT, HR, Finance etc), and then doubling up on interviews with the hiring manager and current department head. I got overwhelmingly positive feedback from everyone on the team, but negative feedback from the client, and what the client wants the client gets I suppose 🤷🏼‍♂️. It was probably a combined total of 8 hours of interviews at odd hours of the delay split up over 3 days across a week and a half of interviews

There was also an online behavioral / cognitive thinking / memory type test online. Took only like half an hour I think, but I’m calling that pre-work. By the way, I was a senior applying for a manager job. Not even director level type work

I had 6 interviews with KPMG. Luckily they were all pretty chill since I was very qualified. But yeah totally agree. It’s also not good bc you end up having to hide a bunch of calls/meetings from your current employer

Yup. I didn’t realize how much of a commitment interviewing was. Every time I completed one interview they would schedule another 😭 Advice: if you get the offer still be thoughtful if you want to take it and negotiate. I felt like I rushed that process cuz I was just so glad it was over and so I probably left some money on the table.

How long would you wait before following up with a recruiter after a phone interview if you haven’t heard back? Everything in this process has gone so quickly until now and I don’t know whether I should reach out or not. I had a phone screen with the recruiter the day after she reached out to me and she set up my phone interview on the spot. The turnaround time has been less than 24 hours for everything but now it’s been radio silence and I’m starting to get anxious.
