Screw them. Your family and life is more important than any steerco, client, or project. If they don’t understand that then let them roll you off. And on your way out make sure to alert Your mentor, Ombudsman, Practice lead, and HR of the conditions this manager and partnerS/principals are creating on this project.
Honest to goodness, you should do it anyway. Let your mentor know. If they're as terrible as they seem, worse they could do is give you a not-great evaluation at the end of the project, but thats a blip in the grand scheme of things.
This is out of line as described and not consistent with Kearney culture.
Feel free to reach out.
It is a common occurrence P1. But I’m glad to read that you are not on the ‘burn people out’ train.
Lol. We have a two week mandatory shutdown for thr holidays and one for July 4th. DM if you’re interested in coming to KPMG. Not sure the salary comp but worth it to explore. I have great WLB.
This is pretty much tablestakes across the Big 4.

Did you plan for PTO this week? Your manager reacted badly and unprofessionally but if you needed time off this week you should have planned in advance.

SM2: The sarcasm save came too late. We all know the first couple of comments clearly weren’t sarcastic. Appreciate the attempt to diffuse the situation though.
PS: Damn, how did I not stumble upon this thread for 6 weeks. SM2 is a legend!
Infuriating. An hour interruption isn’t going to make a bit of difference and you’re allowed to eat for Pete’s sake! K1 is correct and I agree - I’d raise a huge stink about this to anybody who would listen all the way up to AL if necessary (I’m sure somebody will listen before you get that far). Your “leader”’s behavior does NOT align with our values. I’m sorry you are going thru this. I’m sure the manager is under pressure, but that’s no excuse to be a jerk like this. It’s not sustainable to burn out juniors, esp when it takes so much effort and money to recruit you.
💯
And Nothing humbles a manager like getting called into a meeting with HR and their mentor to discuss the project culture they are creating
Oh Kearney…. Let ‘em be mad.

DM for referral.
That is unreal - this manager seems terrible. Please escalate! I am behind you. If you need support, please DM - I am a senior manager at the NYO and I really want to help you
Just had a panic attack trying to make slide edits while FaceTiming my brother for his birthday. I’m so unbelievably depressed and just overall drained from the last 4 months on this project.

Barometer the hell out of it. Sorry again.

But don’t you know: Kearney is your family!!!they’ll keep telling you until you believe it.

“Cool story, bro. I wasn’t asking you, just giving you a heads up.”
People like your manager aren’t fit to lead.
An hour isn’t going to make a difference. Do it anyway

I bet the steerco will be devoid of any client people
Spent 2 of my 5 Kearney christmas eves with my delightful coworkers.
Agree that it needs to get elevated- not consistent with overall firm values. Bad apples need to be educated.

Not cool. Escalate internally. A bit clownish to blow them off as some suggest here, but we have of mechanisms to address. Partner should help you out. I’m at Kearney if you need more support.
This would be something we would do unfortunately
Aaaaaaand this is why I left consulting

Meanwhile, my teams are all on their two week holiday break. I’m hiring if you all need a lifeboat out of Kearney.
Manager here - not acceptable on any level. Definitely have dinner with the family and escalate if needed. The behavior of a few like this gives our firm a bad cultural reputation.
