Constantly resisting the urge to quit
McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Hey everyone -
Not the exact right bowl, but looking for advice/referrals for a close family friend trying to break into ESG/climate change/sustainability consulting.
They have ~7 YOE in finance (mostly junk debt, some S&T) and 20 YOE in development banking at an IGO (think World Bank, doing everything from public debt offerings, infrastructure, etc. all w heavy ESG/compliance requirements).
Thanks for the help!

I mean.. many people take week before or after the Christmas + New Year Holiday.
I have a big client with a ton of foreign partnerships which tends to get busy starting in January, but the team still takes 2~3 weeks off in Dec/Jan.
I’m not in ITS but I used to be in transfer pricing, some of the most miserable times in my life have been trying to keep things afloat in December and January while most of the team is taking 2-3 weeks off. Not to say you shouldn’t! Just maybe check in from time to time so others aren’t struggling on their own.
Do you help on the provision side? I would assume calendar year end clients would be trying to feed you info ahead of the YE close. I’m on the industry side though so not sure on your end.
I would say it’s very client specific. Some clients need to get planning finalized before the end of the year. Depending on year end, provisions are likely in January. In my experience, aside from 2017, December is generally a good time to take off.
I do ITS compliance and it’s pretty easy going from Oct 15th to Mid To late January
Has anyone’s ITS practice been hit with layoffs?
Yes - back in June all D practices were affected
