Curious to hear what solutions your organisation (or your client) is implementing to entice people back to the office? I've seen some companies offering free breakfasts for non-peak days (Monday or Friday), or free yoga classes....but I'm keen to hear another other examples you've seen or heard. Examples can be prior to Omicron, as that seems to put a dampener on organisations looking to return to the office.

Where to find the project details in talent portal?

Hi guys, I am due to start working at EY soon within audit. I will be commuting to the office by train when in the Birmingham office. This will be from Leicester. Usually if a commute is about 1.5 hours+, Mazars authorises hotels. Is there a similar policy at EY? When not in the office I would prefer to drive to clients, not sure if me being in Leicester affects whether they will tell me to suck up an extended commute? Would a mileage claim be from the office to the client? Thanks!

Designer and architects who have made the jump from consultancy/studio to brand/client side, what's your reasons and how have the transition been?

I know this varies based on the company but besides project needs from the hiring manager, does anybody take multiple months between when your background check clears and you actually start? I don’t want to immediately jump from job to job but not sure if taking some time off is generally accepted.

Welp. Feeling like a failure. Made the jump to consulting and I feel like maybe I’m just not cut out for this line of work. I’m having a hard time breaking into the clique in the project I got staffed on, my new ideas are tossed to the side because “it’s always been done this way”, I’m a consultant but i keep getting stuck with just formatting slides and sheets. My +1’s seem to be the only thing that keep me going. It’s probably just one of those days but I am counting down till roll off.

I really want some clear cut long term career goals and ambitions. But working in risk and reg I haven’t found anything yet that really grasps my desire. But my seniors keep asking me where I want to go but in all honesty I just keep bouncing from one project to another trying to do a good job. Does anyone have any ideas how I can find my future career path?

What tool do you all use to monitor your project budgets? Looking for recommendations, we have been using excel so far.

Hey fishes, I have joined Cognizant as a business analyst in July 2021. I got allocated to a project, but my billing hasn't been started. I fill training and non-billable in timesheet and has never been exposed to the client yet, but I work with some seniors and assist them. Learning is stagnated, and I feel that how is it possible that a guy from 6 months is allocated to a project but neither getting work nor billable? Is it normal in Cognizant? Please help me to understand.

As someone with ADHD, the impulsive side of me speaks up in meetings without fully processing the information. Then when corrected, I beat myself up for the rest of the day. What has ended up happening over time is that I have started to come off as an introvert (because of the fear of being wrong) and also with low confidence. This is not a good trait in client facing roles where we are constantly making recommendations and clients look up to us. Anyone else deal with this?

Part 1: I accepted a full-time advisory role at a nonB4 last semester. Updated LinkedIn and all. EY posted a very similar opportunity and it fits my experience. I searched EY’s job board for this chance while interviewing- nothing. If I had received both offers at the same time I would’ve chosen EY. I expect the pay diff to be marginal (6-7%), but I have loans so it would help. What’s most important to me is access to tech/resources, networks, mobility, quality of projects, fit, and exit opps.

Why is every white collar job salaried? I understand is it legally salary positions are supposed to be for members of management. However the vast hordes of associates and Senior associates in our firms manage nothing. Why are they all paid on salary instead of hourly? Are there historical, legal, political reasons why this is the case? Does the entire US economy just agree to ignore the law and pretend that everybody who has a white collar job manages something?
