This drives me insane. Our strategy lead does this. All. The. Time.
There needs to be some kind official, accreditation that would preclude just anyone from working in this industry. The problem is that any charlatan can weasel his or her way in, start spouting guff and buzzwords, and suddenly end up in the c-suite. But with a system in place to test people’s knowledge of the tried and true principles of advertising, clients could know whether they’re hiring an accredited agency or not and could therefore avoid the snake oil salesmen, jargon monkeys, and Vaynerchucks that have sullied everyone.
I’m bummed the “consultant-speak” has infiltrated agencies. Nobody talked like that ten years ago
