It's hiring season and I'm sick of being at a dysfunctional school. I've applied to several districts and I'm awaiting an invitation but in the meantime, how do I know if those districts are better and not just as dysfunctional? What can I ask THEM at the interview?

Wait, are you saying there are districts out there that aren’t dysfunctional?

My district is pretty straight forward, not dysfunctional in my book...

That is a question that had kept me from leaving my district for years. I have no idea how to get a real read on what is actually going on in a potential new system before taking the plunge.

Take the most money and best benefits. Research what they are currently paying their teachers!!!

Ever thought about Kansas? I work at a great district. Small school close to Lawrence/Topeka. We are looking for a SS teacher and an AgEd teacher.

What initiatives are you currently involved with.

When you’re over your current district, it’s time to move on. Moved from a district after eleven years (four years ago) and have never looked back.

My school is super dysfunctional right now but it's so small that I'm actually part of the process of changing how we're doing things! My thought process now is to wait until we really fix things for the better in my district and get it up and running then see if I still love my school/teaching in general. If I want to switch schools I'm hoping it will at least be a resume builder for me! Or idk maybe I'll finally become a stay at home dog mom 🤷‍♀️

Do you have a strong teachers union? I have a great union and we, as a staff, are able to push back on out inept, dis functional Administration. I am in a coupe of Union committees, so I can always ask at the union office which schools are getting the most attention from our Union...

Any advice on how to get into the sales side of Investment Banking? I have above average experience, have a finance background degree but keep failing the initial application stages (before the interview stages) and then watch people on LinkedIn with less experience get roles with top banks. I was laid off in April when there was just email and phones. Cut to five months later and I’m working again. Yay. But suddenly it’s all Zoom, Slack, Teams, Slides, Sheets. Email is dead. And phones are only for Zoom, Slack, Teams, Slides and Sheets. It feels like I woke up from a coma in a shitty version of the future and everyone else is fine with it. How did anyone adjust to this?

You have the skills necessary but you must invest in yourself. No one will look out for you.
