It's mid-May and I see my chances of getting H1B decreasing. When is a good time to start looking for a new job?

How is not getting h1b related to finding a new job? Do you mean some type of global transfer?

Cause you don't get global deployment unless you've been at the firm for at least 2 years. I am < 1year. So I need to literally apply for positions.

Replies can come as late as last week of June. Hang in there.

It sucks man 😔

@S1: so I shouldn't even apply till then? What if I don't get it by end of June? I want to make sure I have a plan if things go south. I am just curious to see if people who've been through this process have applied to new jobs before they heard back. Based on the town hall, it sounded like you don't have a shot once may is over

I have a question, if you don't get picked in the h1b lottery what use is it to change employers? Your work permit will expire and you have to leave the states right?

^ He could change to a cap exempt employer (universities, NGOs, ...)

^ ah, gotcha

Should have been clearer, looking for jobs out of states.
