American serves water from a bottle?
I think I may have seen a hand pump as well in one of their ancient planes
United has bottled water only
This is dumb, were they testing water from the taps in the lavatory? American and United both serve Dasani water.
Confused southwest serves purified water in a can.
The coffee is made from water provided to the plane. It’s not so much the water is contaminated so much as it is the water line fed to the plane can and often does get contaminated by the lines of other things coming off the plane
This is the tap water that they use for coffee and tea.
Sometimes your immune system could use some exercise.
I normally would agree but after getting food poisoning a couple of times within a few months🙅♀️
Where do they get the water? Recycled on the planes??
Was this actually news to people on here? I thought everyone who flew regularly knew the coffee/tea was made from trash plane tank water and stayed away from it.
I was on a project for a major US carrier a few years ago and got into a conversation about the plane water with some maintenance engineers. One shared a story about a call he got to about the water not working, even though everything checked out fine and the tank was full. They eventually drained the tank and found a 12 ft tape worm clogging up the lines. Those things don't grow that fast overnight, so you have an idea of how infrequently they are flushing them. The water probably starts off okay, but is allowed to sit in tanks for extended periods of time.
This is part of the reason you shouldn't cook with hot water from your faucet. It's also bad because the hot water can resolve harmful amounts of minerals from your pipes.
😱
I refrain from even asking for water.. Let alone coffee or tea
If you order just water if comes from a bottle. Not the same as the water used to boil for coffee/tea.
I've always seen United serve from a bottle... agreed on the coffee though
Delta uses bottles too, pretty sure this is for making coffee
Coffee is not made from bottled water
They mean for brewed coffee. The water they use for brewing coffee doesn’t hit the boiling point
Never have the coffee.
Lol I was freezing on a flight and the FA suggested I get tea. No sir, absolutely not. Give me soda water with no ice please.
