Just waking up from a nap!
I am modifying lessons. In between naps, I am discussing IEPs.
Watching the puppy so my husband can get some stuff done.
I was up until 2 AM posting online learning materials for Monday and prepping for my brick and mortar. I am up at 5 now and will teach 4 90-min blocks back to back with no planning period only a 30- min break. I make 44K and have a masters degree and certified in two states. Why do I do this? I love the art of teaching but this is not what it should be like. They want machines not teachers. It’s not right for our kids to have their teacher inattentive half the time. Teaching online and brick & mortar 6th-grade is grueling mentally, emotionally, and physically. I stand all day, which is fine, but without a break? Hard. Still, I am grateful for a job and for getting to teach what I teach. Did I mention I’m in the grandma demographic? Not a spring chicken anymore. Thank God I am healthy enough to do this. Yes, I am paid so little because this is my 4th year public school teaching but I’ve taught for 38 years. Yup. Still standing, y’all. I love teaching kids. It’s why I went back to school but I sure didn’t see this coming!!
My whole Sunday was spent doing school stuff. (My Saturday had a hike & grocery shopping in it.)
