I’ve accepted a new offer scheduled to start beginning of April. With the Coronavirus I’m nervous about providing notice and the start date being pushed back. I’m currently in NYC WFH until who knows?

I just received a job offer and haven’t responded for this same reason. Also with the impending recession should we be worried about last hired, first fired?

like

I accepted but nervous that it won’t happen now. I obviously don’t want to give notice if the offer is on pause. The new firm appears to still be on board for starting in April but as we know things keep changing rapidly.

Last hired first fired I didn’t even think of that! Very good point

Seems like a good conversation to have with the group or leader of the group you're joining - how are they handling the developments so far and what do they predict when things get worse?

Also if the group is hiring then clearly they're busy. Seems like layoffs would be directed at non busy groups first and primarily

smart

Scheduled to have call soon thanks!

Also curious about this. I was given an offer and accepted before things got crazy. Now, I am afraid to give notice for the reasons mentioned above.
