Traveled for the first time this week since COVID and got the dreaded “do you have kids?” question at team dinner. Him-“do you have kids?” Me- “No, I don’t.” Him-“Oh good! That’s the right choice!!” Me (awkwardly)- “I still have time… I’m not even 30 yet!” (Team member who knows about our 3 month and 6 month miscarriages looking on with THE saddest face) Ughhhh. He had absolutely no idea and meant well since everyone was talking about their kids but gosh…I wish this didn’t have to be a thing😩

We’re getting married next spring and trying to put together our website.
Many weddings we’re attending this year have some sort of Covid-disclaimer on them saying “please have a negative PCR test or be vaccinated beforehand” (paraphrasing), but it’s the honor system, no one is checking.
For 2022, is that type of language necessary? Vaccines will have been out 1 year. The state we are getting married won’t require it (southern state), it feels like it’s on the individual wedding to say (or not).

I need some direction. My sister-in-law's mother has early onset dementia and is in a memory care home as she cannot take care of herself and requires too much care for her kids to take on personally. While in the home today, she had a seizure and fell to the ground. Per the cameras in her room, she was down for 25 min. She got herself up and fell again. She wasn't found for another 17 min. What’s your average billables on a Friday? Always my lowest day.

What sort of questions would you ask during an informational lateral call? Speaking with an associate on a team I’d like to lateral to, what sort of questions would you like answered before joining?

If you don’t have 8 hours of billable time a day, do you leave as is or do you fill in the gap with non-billable work? While I am in the office, I don’t always get the billable amount since I don’t have enough work. Seems like a waste of time to enter non-billable time just to fill in the gap but I also don’t want them to think I am not there and slacking off.

New corporate junior associate here. How do you gauge whether you are supposed to finish an assignment over the weekend or if it can wait until Monday? If you get an assignment Friday night, do you just automatically work on it on Saturday or do you ask the partner? How do you ask them (i.e. your exact email response)?

I am a stub and I blew up an internal deadline for an internal research. I was looped into an email, was not sure if I had to work on it and just missed the email. I learned my lesson and I apologized but since then I have been excluded from all of the workstreams. Before this, I submitted my work on time with a good work product. Is there a way to redeem myself? Feeling very anxious after this. Was this is a death knell for my career? I really want a second chance.

I know my teams view me as completely clueless (which is 100% accurate), but whenever I ask for an explanation/they go over something with me, I'm still left feeling like they're speaking a different language.
