Assuming you are married - First one - tax saving on $7,300 (calculate based on your tax rate) Second one - tax saving on 1680+5300 = 6980. However, you are also getting $320 back in premium so add that to the tax saving here. Net result - 2nd plan is better

Thank you. This was my thought but wanted to be sure I didn’t miss something

So your first option is your firm covers all medical costs, but doesn’t contribute to the HSA? If that’s the case, definitely do that and then just max out the HSA on its own since you won’t be under any pressure to spend any of it.

I’ve been using HSA as investment so no pressure to spend, letting it build

I was told that I won’t be considered for my promotion to SM this year end because I’m on maternity leave. This sounds sketchy given that I did everything in my power to prepare before I went on mat leave. Now I’m pushing my coach and leadership to let me go up for promotion in an off cycle promotion. Is this fair and normal or is this a sign I need to look for a new job and resign? I feel like I’m being punished for being on maternity leave.

Would love to hear from moms whose babies went to daycare / school right after maternity leave (no nanny etc). Due in March and on the list for a stellar Montessori daycare / preschool near us to start in August (school year) when baby is 4-5 months old. Feeling guilty and struggling to decide if keeping baby home a year with a nanny is better, starting school in 2023? However, I’m worried about cost - we really would not be able to afford a nanny in our city on our salaries. Advice welcome!
