I’ve asked my employer to allow me to work remotely as I’m not in a healthy environment at the current office, and their answer was that they can only do hybrid 3 days in the office and 2 days home because they want me to mentor another co-worker who has been with the company for a year and spends most of the day on his phone. I don’t feel like the three days will make any difference as I’ll still spend most of the week there. Thoughts?

Say that you’ll mentor him at your house lol

Hahaha. Sorry but I laughed at this comment. But you're right lol

Why is your current environment not healthy? It seems like maybe that should be addressed first and foremost.

Appreciate the advice!

They want you to babysit the lazy colleague. Is that’s part of your job description?

like

Not at all, I honestly feel like they’re using it as an excuse.

If you are a good enough employee that your employer is asking you to be a mentor- you’re likely a good enough employee to be able to WFH full time. Mentorship in todays world can happen virtually. I know tons of people who have left roles to go fully remote once they were asked to go back in the office. Based on your comment above about your boss, I would suggest looking elsewhere. You don’t want to be forced to go into a toxic environment at all, let alone 3 days a week. You deserve better, and better is out there.

I think most companies have that rule. We are also required to return to the office for 3 days. If you're not comfortable with this setup, start looking for a new job. There are companies which offers full WFH setup.

I love my kid so much. He was with me throughout all of elementary but has been at the middle school for the past 3 years. He had only a handful of kids he knew from our elementary. He made all of his new friends on his own. I have been meeting them one by one and am sooooo impressed with their character, manners, interests, and grades. He chose his friends wisely! Anyone else experience this?

3 years ago I asked for a compensation review/raise, went through what felt like a ridiculous 8 MONTH long process of defending why it was warranted, only to be told no. 3 months ago I asked again and it has gone nowhere. I should add that salary bands are kept secret and I have no clue what the range for my position is. There are a decent amount of benefits in my position, the biggest being WLB, which is what has kept me here for so long. But I’m getting frustrated. What would you do?
