I’ve been a tax manager for almost a year and am considering changing firms. I mainly do ASC 740 work for financial services clients. I talked to a local firm and my skill set was way different from what they do. Is there anything I should consider before exploring? Honestly am open to both industry and public.

Industry would be a good option, ASC740 is integral to any in house team.

Second the industry plug. Relevant ASC 740 experience is exactly what in-house tax teams are looking for.

Any interest in ASC 740 group at big 4?

Don’t do it.

Big 4 and mid size generally hire for this. These PA firms are all looking for people right now

Why do you want to switch firms?

Manager still has a long road to partner that may or may not happen the way you're thinking, and could still happen elsewhere - 30 percent per year for x years is a lot.

With that skill set, B4 would be the way to go. Lots of opportunities for specialization and advancement. DM me if I can help with an EY intro. I specialize in 740 too, so could get you in touch pretty easily.

Now is a great time to jump if your firm isn’t valuing you. All the firms are throwing dollars at experienced hires. I’d advise against B4, but I’m obviously biased haha.

Hi Fishes,

My colleague's younger sister is looking for a job as a fresher. She has recently graduated (B.com) and is pursuing US CMA. She's also done a couple of internships and is highly proactive and motivated. The family has been struggling to meet the ends specially due to Covid Pandemic.

Tried applying via Naukri and LinkedIn but there's hardly any response.
Can someone please refer her in their organization for a relevant role for a B.Com graduate. DM me for more details.

My manager asked me to attend a company presentation after work hours. She basically told me, since you're the most social, you should get other people into it, which i dont mind, but no one wants to go to this event. She herself isn't even attending it and i feel like as a manager she's setting a bad example and not being a good leader.

Business generation is going to be the bane to my existence. I’m a highly regarded mid level at my firm (in terms of work product), but my colleagues (that are, quite frankly, incompetent) seem to be getting further ahead solely due to the business they bring in, which is usually attributed to their wealthy friends/family businesses. I do networking everywhere I go, but I just can’t seem to land the commercial clients I need. Any advice?

Which firms out there have partner mandatory retirement ages of 65 or older? I started late in accounting and I know my firms mandatory retirement age for partners makes it nearly impossible to ever reach that level. Wondering what larger firms out there have higher ages for mandatory retirements.
