I have seen this in many healthcare industries, especially in essential workers this to happen. The only thing that would come to my mind is to start offering your services privately.
I wish that was an option
We have to outsource services at our facility. There aren't any respiratory therapists applying for cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
There are RT shortages everywhere, but I think it is because RT’s are separate from nurses. Just don’t have as much bargaining power despite the obvious need.
I would only ever work at a facility where there is autonomy amongst RRTs. If we ever fell under nursing where I currently am, I'd be on indeed looking for a job ASAP
We get " cost of living" raises yearly as well which did not match the inflation even close. Our department fought vigorously even went above the bosses head to demand a market adjustment. It helped alot. We are paid fairly for the work we do. We currently have a full staff on days and nights. Although we seem to be working shorter more often, probably to compensate for the bosses budget.
