I’ve been asked to interview an engineer for a role at my company. They’ve already had an interview with the hiring manager so what questions should I be asking? I’ve never interviewed an engineer before

Well-roundedness. Also, is there a test that they'll have to take? And what do you like to see in the engineers you work with? I'd also ask them what languages they're comfortable with, exactly what they were working on in the last job, etc.

You’re checking for their culture fit and their understanding or potential to understand a product driven culture. The last thing you’d want, for example, is an engineer who thinks a waterfall approach is best because they “only like to code” and not contribute outside their area of expertise.

I always like to try to get a feel for how that engineer works with product. Different companies of course approach the collaboration between engineering and product different, so it’s good to know what they’ve experienced previously, what they work best under, and how they fit with your company’s approach.

Salary in interview. I was asked about my salary in an interview at MBB. Say I was currently receiving 70k fixed + 22k bonus. I told them "my salary is 100K including bonus". Can this little round off hurt later? The interviewer was basically asking me how much I am expecting and I told him industry standards. Kept pursuing it. In end he said just give me sense of your current salary and so I rounded off.

Looking to shift from litigation to corporate roles. Considering these difficult times, does it make sense to take a corporate in-house paralegal position within a large company?
