Hello.
Need 11 hearts for DM.
Much appreciated
said I should just respond to the verbal offer. I’m pretty happy with the comp, bonus and relocation, but the benefits docs didn’t include anything about vacation and that may be the only thing I’d try to negotiate. I don’t know if I should ask for a written offer or if that matters? They said once accepted, they’d be sending me a contract so I won’t give my notice to my firm until everything is signed, but does it matter if this is all verbal or is a written offer (and counter offer) standard?
You could ask for an offer letter if they don't do employment agreements.
I’d just say something like that all sounds good (if it does) and you’ll of course need to take a look at the written “contract” (isn’t it all at will employment?) and let them know if you have comments/questions etc based on that. If your only specific question at this point is vacation, you can ask about that in advance. Sounds like HR person has forgotten they’re dealing with a lawyer who doesn’t just sign whatever’s given to them.
Just think of the contract as your written offer. You don’t need to sign it as is (although they may be expecting it). No need for a separate step in the documentation process with an “offer” followed by “contract”.
I don’t think there’s any such thing as standard with in-house jobs.
Congrats!
This is super helpful, thank you!
