I gave a salary range to a couple recruiters for digital consulting positions and am not sure if it was relatively close to market value or not. Would you think this (admittedly wide) range is high, low, or reasonable? Any advice is appreciated!
- Both roles are for boutique digital consulting firms in Chicago
- Consultant 1 positions requiring 3-5 years experience
- My range: $100k-$120k base
- I have 4 yrs experience, 2 of which in a BA/Product owner role (non b4 accounting firm)
I interviewed for a role with the actual hiring manager more than two weeks ago. After that, the hiring manager gave great feedback, set up a group interview 2 days later. That went great as well and I received great feedback in response to my thank you emails. Since then it’s been crickets. I know part of this time included the 4th, so perhaps no big deal. But I sent a follow up to hiring manager yesterday and no response. Bad sign? Should I follow up with HR rep instead or just wait it out?
Anyone has info if a company tells you, you didn’t get the job, but will probably be in touch in a couple of weeks or couple of months coz my cv is great.
Interviewed for a PM role for one of the top 10 IT giants, and I made 11 interviews, only the last one said I was too junior. (After interviewing me for 5 mins). The head of department and hiring manager said they’ll probably be in touch and they’re keeping my info!

I was laid off from my previous job because of COVID so don’t have a ton of leverage. But that shouldn’t make me powerless. The process just seems like overkill.

So I’m just starting out, I left the medical field and ended up jumping right into litigation/personal injury… so my question is where did you start and where are you now as far as your law field? For fun it would be cool to hear why you shifted and pros and cons for both fields … just to help us newbies hear what your experiences are.

Yesterday a recruiter for a big media company reached out via LinkedIn about a role he was trying to fill. The role aligned with my background and honestly, I felt great that finally I was being poached. We set up a time and I sent my resume.... then this morning he cancels and blames that the position is being “put on hold”. How likely is this actually the reason/does this happen often?

A lot of in house roles I see have marketing/advertising legal support lumped into the job description. For example, I have seen privacy counsel roles, product counsel roles, and commercial counsel roles all include advertising/marketing work. Why is this? What is this work like? Anyone do it and enjoy it? How does anyone get experience in this area in a law firm? Never heard of this practice area before.

Was told I was one of a few final candidates for a role, and that they were going to be ready to make a “very hard decision” by the end of last week. Have not heard anything. Safe to assume they made an offer and I’m just being put on hold until that person accepts or declines? Worth reaching out to the recruiter or pointless at this point?
Has anyone heard about an offer for employment be rescinded because the background check showed a drivers license suspension 2 years ago due to a third party firm error not informing me on the results of the disputed ticket and requirement to pay ticket fees within specified time. The drivers license has since been in good order and is currently valid but the record shows a past suspension for a speeding ticket.
What is more important - being in-house at a large reputable company that will be pretty stable over time, or making a ton of money somewhere (maybe well known or a start up) even for a year or two? I am considering applying to some tech companies for more money, but I work in a pretty stable industry though not making a ton of money.
I entered law school in my late 30's as a second career. I have strong pre-law experience (Executive of small company, 60 employees, $4m budget, MBA, etc.) and law school credentials (Top 10%, Managing Editor of Law Review). I'm willing to make less coming out of school than I did before, but want to ultimately land as in-house counsel with a decent wlb and make $200k+. I'm looking for advice on the best path to get there and how long I can expect it to take.
When an in-house recruiter at another company cold-emails you, is it fair to ask them for the rough offer range in your initial response back (to avoid wasting everyone’s time)? Or do you owe them the courtesy of taking at least a screening phone call and asking then?
